When the prescribed time has elapsed, current is supplied so that the lamp-consumption power will become a constant-power having a rated lamp-consumption power value of Pr. The amplitude of the lamp current upon supplying constant-power thereto is limited to a limit current value of Ia, and the current value Ib and the power value Plow are set so as to satisfy the following relationship.
