<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an unsaturated aldehyde and/or unsaturated carboxylic acid, capable of maintaining high reaction load, or excellent production capability by sufficiently reducing the temperature of a hot spot to efficiently perform start-up. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for continuously producing an unsaturated aldehyde and/or unsaturated carboxylic acid by means of gas phase contact oxidation reaction by supplying, to a catalyst layer of a fixed-bed tubular reactor filled with solid oxidation catalyst and provided with a heat medium bath, a raw material gas containing at least one or more of propylene, isobutylene, tertiary butanol and methyl tertiary butyl ether, and molecular oxygen, when the difference in temperature between the heat medium bath and the catalyst layer adjacent thereto within the reactor exceeds a preset upper limit value, an inert gas is supplied to the catalyst layer as part of the raw material gas, whereby the feed quantity of the raw material gas is temporarily increased by 1 vol.% or more to minimize the temperature difference. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
