<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a fine grain polycrystalline diamond compact dispensing with freeze-drying for preventing secondary particle formation, and suitable for finishing cutting tool materials and ultra-precision machining tool materials dispensing with prior mixture of an auxiliary. <P>SOLUTION: A sheet comprising one or more kinds selected from a carbonate and a C-H based organic substance which is a solid at room temperature, preferably polyethylene, polypropylene and polystyrene, is sandwiched and stacked between diamond powder layers whose average particle size is ≤4 μm, inserted into a Ta capsule, and then sintered under the conditions of a sintering pressure of ≥7.7 GPa and a sintering temperature of ≥2,000°C. Consequently, the fine grain polycrystallinr diamond compact can be produced without requiring freeze-drying of sintered raw material diamond powder, without using an oxalic acid dihydrate which is a hazardous material, and without requiring prior mixture of a sintering auxiliary. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
