<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the reusability of a silicon carbide sintered compact by improving the oxidation resistance of the silicon carbide sintered compact. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing a silicon carbide sintered compact includes: a step of preparing a slurry solution containing silicon carbide powder and a phenol resin as a carbon source; a step of obtaining silicon carbide granules from the slurry solution using a spray dryer process; and a step of sintering a molded body formed from the silicon carbide granules using a hot press process.
