<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical fiber preform that can efficiently form good soot body in a short time by optimizing soot-forming conditions, and can reduce a manufacturing cost. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing an optical fiber preform includes a step of depositing glass fine particles on a target rod by a OVD method using a multinozzle burner 10.
