The connector has an electrical insulating contact carrier housing comprising a recess for accommodating a contact (6) of an electric line (1) and another recess opening into the former recess. A locking element is movable into the latter recess. The locking element and the contact are formed in such a manner that the locking element is pivotable into the latter recess in a preset mounting position when the contact is provided in a preset end position. A housing portion i.e. sleeve (11), is mounted only at the contact carrier housing when the locking element is in the mounting position. The contact of the electric line is designed as a pin and a socket.
