CONTROLLER AND PROJECTION TYPE VIDEO DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an outer periphery of a projection image from being misdetected as a screen frame when a projection type video display device projects an image on a wall surface.

SOLUTION: A projection unit 10 projects a video on a projection surface 300 through a lens. An imaging unit 30 images the projection surface. A screen frame detection unit 40 detects a screen frame from an image imaged by the imaging unit 30 when the projection unit 10 projects a predetermined pattern for detecting screen frames. A projection area estimation unit 50 calculates an outer periphery shape of a projection area from the image imaged by the imaging unit when a predetermined pattern for estimating projection areas is projected. A determination unit 60 determines whether the screen frame and the outer periphery shape of the projection area substantially match each other, and determines that the screen frame is misdetected when they substantially match each other.
