<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new fluorescent diketopyrrolopyrrole and a method for producing the same and an EL device of a composition comprising the same. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided the fluorescent diketopyrrolopyrrole represented by formula I. The compound may be used as fluorescent tracers for the preparation of ink, colorants, pigmented plastics for coatings, non-impact-printing materials, color filters, cosmetics, polymeric ink particles and a toner, for such applications as in color changing media, in solid dye lasers and in electroluminescent devices.
