<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a spherical alumina powder excellent in filling property, having a small content of uranium, and imparting high thermal conductivity to resin compositions such as a sealing material. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the spherical alumina powder includes spraying an aluminum hydroxide powder into a flame, wherein the aluminum hydroxide powder is characterized in that the average particle diameter D50 where the cumulative mass from the fine particle side reaches 50 wt.% is 2-100 μm and the particle size distribution index defined as D90/D10 is ≥13, wherein D90 and D10 are particle diameters when the cumulative mass from the fine particle side reaches 90 wt.% and 10 wt.%, respectively, in particle size distribution measured by a laser diffraction/scattering method. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
