<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of achieving prevention of blurring of moving images and uniformity of luminance distribution in a screen with a simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: Signals are output from a counter 75a to a pulse generating circuit 76a. At the same time, signals are output to a counter 75b, and counters 75b to 75h perform the same operations as the counter 75a. Each light source unit 5a to 5h turns out the light successively with a predetermined lag time from the turning out of the closest light unit.
