PURPOSE: A system for detecting a threatening object using a laser radar and a method thereof is provided to launch an interceptor missile by being interlinked with an upper layer system through automatically detecting the object. CONSTITUTION: A system for detecting a threatening object using a laser radar and a method thereof is comprised of a laser radar(110), a signal processor(120), a 3D showing device(130), and a system controller(140). The laser radar projects a laser ray to the object and corrects the reflected laser from the object to generate 3D information. The signal process receives the 3D information, detects the object, and automatically tacks it. A 3D showing device displays the 3D image information and the information of the detected object and gives an alarm to a system manager.
