<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the brightness of a displayed image and reduce blurring of a moving image in a VA liquid crystal device. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device comprises a first substrate (10), a second substrate (20) placed facing the first substrate, a plurality of pixel electrodes (9) arranged at intervals each other on the first substrate, and a liquid crystal layer (50) interposed between the first and second substrates and including a vertically-aligned liquid crystal, and satisfies the formula -1.6×s/d+4.4≥θ≥-2.6×s/d+5.6 when the interval between mutually adjoining pixel electrodes is s [um], the thickness of the liquid crystal layer is d [um], and a pretilt angle of the vertically-aligned liquid crystal is θ [°]. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
