PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data storage device which inputs and outputs data continuously, deals with a plurality of inputs and outputs simultaneously, raises an apparent internal data transfer speed, and increases the number of inputs and outputs to be simultaneously processed. SOLUTION: A compression/decompression part 22 uses in common a buffer memory 23 for converting a data rate as a memory for compression processing so as to compress SDI data and reduce the amount of internal data transfer. A distributing/collecting part 24 divides compressed SDI data for ten channels, for example, into a plurality of data, and distributes the data for one channel to eight magnetooptical disk devices D<SB>1</SB>, D<SB>2</SB>to D<SB>7</SB>, and D<SB>8</SB>of a disk array part 28. An error check code adding/detecting part 25 adds an error correction code to the compressed and distributed SDI data, and writes the resultant data into the buffer memory 26.
