<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical character reader capable of reading and printing of a paper sheet at one transportation. <P>SOLUTION: This optical character reader comprises: a conveyance path through which paper sheets are transported; a first light source which is used to radiate and reflect a light on a face of a paper sheet; a second light source, which is arranged at a position facing the first light source with a paper sheet between them, is used to radiate a light on a reverse face of the paper sheet and make the light penetrate through the paper sheet; a reader, which is positioned at the first light source side and on an optical axis of first light source and the second light source, reads character information written on the face or the reverse face of the paper sheet; and a control unit which switches the first light source to/from the second light source in a time division manner so as to have the first light source and the second light source radiate the face and the reverse face of the paper sheet transported on the conveyance path respectively, and recognize the character information by binarizing a first multi-value data which is an image data based on the switched first light source and a second multi-value data which is an image data based on the switched second light source. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
