The ink supply system (2) comprises a print head arrangement (6), and a print head (7) with one or multiple nozzles (8) for a color. The print head is connected with the nozzles by a connecting line (19). An inlet tank (17) is provided, which is connected with an intermediate tank (12) by a filling line under an interconnection of a feed unit (16) and a filter arrangement (18). The pressure difference of the ink flow from a rear running tank (22) to the inlet tank is controlled by the print head. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a method for cleaning an ink supply system; and (2) a method for cleaning a print head.
