<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interface device which realizes an indicating operation without any contact and constraint by arm pointing by a plurality of users in an indoor space, and facilitates operation of an indoor appliance in the indoor space by arm pointing in any general posture such as a standing posture, a sitting posture, a lying posture and indicating operation by the arm pointing. <P>SOLUTION: The interface device is provided with an image processing means which picks up the images of inside of a room with a plurality of stereo cameras 1-1 to 1-n in the indoor space 5 and generates a distance image based on picked-up images in a visual field by the unit of each stereo camera and the coordinate system of the indoor space 5, a means for extracting the posture and the arm indication of the user 4 based on distance information from each of the stereo cameras 1-1 to 1-n, and a means for identifying whether identified arm indication is an intentional signature from a direction which is indicated by the arm and its movement when arm indication is identified. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
