<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction damper which can be easily manufactured at an appropriate cost. <P>SOLUTION: The damper includes: housings 2, 2d, 2e and 2g having a center longitudinal axis 3 and surrounding the housing interior 21 at least in part by housing walls 24 and 25; plungers 4, 4b, 4c, 4f and 4g displaceable within the housings along the center longitudinal axis, guided from the housings and having at least one friction brake lining recess 14, 14b 14c 14f or 14g; fastening elements 7 and 10 respectively arranged at the open ends 5 and 9 of the housings and plungers; and at least one friction brake lining 17, 17a or 17g arranged in frictional contact with the facing housing wall 25 in the at least one friction brake lining recess.
