<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear motor which reduces a leakage magnetic flux generated between magnetic poles of an armature and has a high thrust. <P>SOLUTION: A linear motor of this invention comprises: magnetic pole teeth arranged so as to sandwich and hold a permanent magnet disposed in a mover; cores consecutively connecting the magnetic pole teeth sandwiching and holding the magnet; a winding wound around the plural cores collectively; and the mover in which the magnets are arranged such that a front and a rear of magnetic poles are arranged alternately. The plural magnetic pole teeth arranged so as to sandwich and hold the permanent magnet and the plural magnetic poles respectively having cores consecutively connecting the magnetic pole teeth holding the magnet are arranged along a lengthwise direction of the mover, and the winding common to the plural magnetic poles is arranged.
