<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine capable of changing the degree of radiating combustion heat generated in a combustion chamber according to a load of the internal combustion engine. <P>SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine 100 includes: a variable compression ratio device 34 for changing the volume of a combustion chamber 22 to vary compression ratio according to the load of the internal combustion engine 100; and a heat insulation part 24 provided on a wall surface of the combustion chamber 22. When the internal combustion engine 100 has high load, the heat insulation part 24 is arranged by operation of the variable compression ratio device 34 according to the load of the internal combustion engine 100 so that the proportion of the wall surface of the combustion chamber 22 becomes smaller compared to the internal combustion engine with low load. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
