<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To take high-resolution fringe images when checking up wide steel plates and detect minute surface defects. <P>SOLUTION: A surface detect checkup apparatus according to this invention comprises an image generation unit which generates a plurality of shape images representing the uneven state of a surface of a steel plate and a plurality of luminance images representing differences in roughness on the surface of the steel plate by utilizing a fringe image comprising optically cut images generated by a steel plate imaging apparatus having a plurality of laser radiating devices which so radiate modulated linear laser beams as not to be superposed on one another and a plurality of time delay integration type imaging devices which take images of linear laser beams reflected by a steel plate and generate optically cut images of the steel plate, an image extension/contraction processing unit which extends or contracts the generated shape images and luminance images and alters the same into a fixed image size not depending on the transferring speed of the steel plate, and a defect detection processing unit which detects any surface defects present on the surface of the steel plate by utilizing extended or contracted shape images. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
