<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an excrement-treating material consisting of a composite layered structure of a core part and a surface layer. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the excrement-treating material includes, compressively granulating the core part 1 having water absorbability under hydration, and then covering the outer peripheral face of the core part 1 with the surface layer 2 having water absorbability. In the method, a dye is mixed in a blending material of the surface layer 2; the blending material of the surface layer 2 in which the dye is mixed, is sprinkingly attached onto the outer peripheral face of the core part 1 via its moisture, and the dye is weakly reacted with the moisture on the outer peripheral face of the core part 1 to dye the surface layer 2 light color so that, when absorbing discharged urine, the weakly-reacted dye is strongly reacted therewith to dye the surface layer 2 deep color.
