<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chemical sensor allowing stable detection of target substances. <P>SOLUTION: The chemical sensor includes: a first semiconductor region in which a channel region of a second conductivity type is formed between a drain region of a first conductivity type and a source region of a first conductivity type; and a sensitive membrane formed on the second conductivity type channel region; a sensor element for detecting a target substance in liquid; and a controlling mechanism for controlling and floating the potential of the second conductivity type channel region.
