<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a current type converter reducing comparison between a command value and a carrier. <P>SOLUTION: A command value I<SP POS="POST">*</SP>is a triangular wave current command value having a period which is a third of a period of three-phase voltages Vr, Vs, Vt. A carrier C1 has a triangular waveform having a period shorter than the period of the command value I<SP POS="POST">*</SP>. Comparison result signals Ka, Kb are pulse signals showing a result of comparison between the carrier C1 and the command value I<SP POS="POST">*</SP>. In a section of a phase 30 to 90°, a part Kbrp in the section in the comparison result signal Kb is adopted as a gate signal Srp<SP POS="POST">*</SP>.
