<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double flow low pressure steam turbine with a low pressure section that can be engaged and disengaged from a drive train, and also to provide a method for using the same. <P>SOLUTION: A steam turbine 200 includes: a high pressure section 210; an intermediate pressure section 220 adjacent to the high pressure section 210; a first low pressure section 242; a second low pressure section 244; a crossover pipe 230 connecting the intermediate pressure section 220 to the first low pressure 242 section and the second low pressure section 244; a drive train 250 extending through the high pressure section 210, the intermediate pressure section 220, the first low pressure section 242, and the second low pressure section 244; a device 254 for engaging and disengaging the second low pressure section 244 from the drive train 250; and a valve 236 for alternately opening and closing a portion of the crossover pipe 230 connecting the intermediate pressure section 220 to the second low pressure section 244. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
