PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a user grasp a moving image content more easily.

SOLUTION: A meta-data extractor 22 extracts meta-data such as information of a representative image from contents supplied by a content inputting unit 21 to store the meta-data in a meta-data database 24. An image feature quantity extractor 23 extracts an image feature quantity from the contents to store the image feature quantity in an image feature quantity database 25, and also extracts an image feature quantity from a retrieval image inputted by a retrieval image inputting unit 26. A retrieval unit 27 compares the image feature quantity of the retrieval image with the image feature quantity in the image feature quantity database 25 to determine a still-image similar to the retrieval image. A outputting unit 28 reads out the meta-data of a content to generate a display data for a time-line display. And the outputting unit 28 generates a display data so as to display the retrieval result on a time-line display on the basis of a frame number of the still-image provided by the retrieval unit 27 and the meta-data.
