<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for monitoring operation of a compressor, which avoid disadvantages in the system for monitoring anomalies by a vibration detector and visual detection. <P>SOLUTION: The system includes an acoustic energy detector 24 connected to the compressor and a controller in communication with the acoustic energy detector. The acoustic energy detector transmits an acoustic energy signal 44 reflective of acoustic energy produced by the compressor to the controller. A sensor connected to the compressor measures an operating parameter of the compressor and transmits a parameter signal. A method for monitoring the compressor anomalies includes sensing the acoustic energy produced by the compressor and transmitting the acoustic energy signal reflective of the acoustic energy to the controller. The method further includes sensing the operating parameter of the compressor, transmitting a parameter signal reflective of the operating parameter to the controller, and transmitting an output signal based on the acoustic energy signal and the operating parameter signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
