<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer and a control method of a moving body by which a frequency of need for moving the moving body again in the same direction after the moving body stops this movement, is further reduced. <P>SOLUTION: Scanning from a present position (a stop position at (N-1)th time) to a target position POSD of a carriage is started (S40). When a dot forming region of a next time ((N+1)th time) is obtained (Yes in S50), it is determined which is farther from a start position out of a carriage start position calculated from a first dot position at (N+1)th time and a carriage stop position calculated from a last dot position at Nth time (S60). When the carriage start position at the next time is farther, the target position is reset to the carriage start position at (N+1)th time. When the carriage stop position at this time is farther, the target position is reset to the carriage stop position at Nth time.
