A lid (1) for closing a container (7), preferably a cup, wherein the lid comprises a middle part (2), a lid-area (3) arranged around the latter preferably in a circular shape and an edge flange (4) directed substantially downwards, which engages around the container, wherein the lid (1) provides counter hooks (8), which can be supported against the inside of the container (7).
