[Class 75(iv)] The control gear for an electric discharge lamp is contained in a tube a which forms the support for one or more fluorescent or like tubes d. Each supporting bracket b comprises a channel-shaped body which is stiffened by a rib p, and which carries the leads to a lamp holder q secured to the bracket b by pins r. The rectangularshaped top s of the bracket passes through a hole t in the starter switch housing 5, secured inside the tube a, the base of the end cap e of thd tube a being received in a notch w formed under the top s, and the part of the bracket adjacent the notch w being received in a slot y in the end of the tube a. The lamp holder covers c are slotted for the passage of the brackets b. The tube a is not substantially greater in diameter than the tubes d, and the length of the tube a with its end caps e is approximately equal to the length of the tubes d with the covers c. Holes in the upper side of an inverted channel-shaped strip n attached to the top of the tube a allow the attachment of a conduit outlet box, a central suspension tube, suspension chains, or give passage to fixing screws or the like. |
