PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for the production of ethylene oxide in high efficiency and high selectivity for producing ethylene oxide stably for a long period of time.SOLUTION: A catalyst for the production of ethylene oxide comprising silver and a reaction promoter supported by a porous carrier comprising α-alumina as a main component is characterized in that a relative standard deviation of silver supporting rate of each particle of the catalyst is 0.001 or more and 0.1 or less. This is a production method of ethylene oxide having a step where ethylene is gas-phase oxidized by means of molecular oxygen or gas containing molecular oxygen in the presence of the catalyst for the production of ethylene oxide.
