PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas treatment device for a diesel engine, capable of smoothly starting the formation of combustible gas while reducing the size of a combustible gas former.SOLUTION: A core material 15 is internally fitted to the center of an annular wall 14 to form an air-fuel mixing chamber 12 between an inner peripheral face 16 of the annular wall 14 and an outer peripheral face 18 of the core material 15 so that air-fuel mixed gas 23 in the air-fuel mixing chamber 12 is supplied from the terminal of the air-fuel mixing chamber 12 close to the center of a combustible gas forming catalyst 13. The core material 15 uses a heater 25 whose heat radiation outer peripheral face 26 is exposed to the air-fuel mixing chamber 12. At starting the formation of the combustible gas 4, heat is radiated from the heat radiation outer peripheral face 26 of the heater 25 directly to the air-fuel mixing chamber 12.
