The method involves stamping a thread-forming screw (4) with a nail-shaped tip (5) in a workpiece (2) up to a screw thread (6) of the screw. The screw is screwed into the workpiece and another workpiece (3) with the sectioned screw thread, where the screw thread is formed as a metric screw thread. A calibration portion (9) is provided between the nail-shaped tip and the screw thread for aligning and/or feeding the screw, where diameter of the nail-shaped tip and/or the calibration portion is smaller than diameter of the screw thread.
