BRAKE LINING FOR RAILWAY CAR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce brake noise produced during stop in a disk brake system for a railway car.SOLUTION: A brake lining 11 for a railway car includes a friction member 12 and a back plate 13 for supporting the friction member 12. The friction member 12 is divided into a plurality of pieces in a radial direction and circumferential direction of a brake disk. Respective friction members 12 are supported by interposing an elastic member 14 in a gap with the back plate 13, and pressed against a sliding surface of the brake disk by a brake caliper fitted with the back plate 13. The supporting rigidity of the friction member 12 existing in the vicinity of a center H of the lining is made bigger than that existing in the vicinity of vertical center H of the lining while the brake lining 11 is mounted in a dolly. The occurrence of self-excited vibration of the whole disk brake system containing the brake lining is suppressed to reduce brake noise.
