The invention relates to the field of medicine and cosmetology. What is proposed is: a method for producing an agent for eliminating skin defects and treating wounds in the form of a gel based on water-soluble plant-derived polysaccharides. Under constant mixing, a water-soluble cellulose derivative and a water-soluble polysaccharide which comprises anionic groups and forms polyanions in solution are mixed with water, and the resultant mixture is subjected to heating to a temperature of up to 90°C - 115°C and then cooling to a temperature which is no higher than 12°C and is sterilized, wherein the heating-cooling cycle is repeated at least twice. The transparency of the gel and its resistance to phase separation during storage are increased.
