<p>The barrier 10 comprises a support member 12 and a barrier member 30 which is movable relative to the support between a stowed and a deployed position. The support has an upper part 22, such as its upper surface, which is substantially level, in use, with the ground 106. The barrier member is rotatably mounted relative to the support such that the axis of rotation 76 is above the upper part of the support. The support may comprise a housing with an aperture at one end, through which the barrier member is deployed, a part of the barrier member being substantially level with the ground when stowed away. The security barrier may include a drive mechanism 78, such as linear actuators 80, 82, to provide the rotatable movement of the barrier member. The support may include a ground anchor which comprises a foot of the support. Also claimed is a method for operating said security barrier.</p> |
