摘要 <p>Disclosed is an image decoding method which comprises prediction steps (S102 and S103) wherein pixel data for a predicted block is generated, and decoding steps (S204 and S205) wherein a decoding block is generated. The prediction steps (S102 and S103) include: an edge detection step (S110), which detects an edge vector that exists in a region in the vicinity of a target block, by using already decoded pixel data; an intersection judgment step (S111), which judges whether or not the edge vector intersects the target block; and a predicted block generation step (S103), which generates pixel data for the predicted block by using the edge vector that was judged to be intersecting the target block. In the intersection judgment step (S111), a judgment is made that the relevant edge vector intersects the target block if two vertices selected from vertices that constitute the target block are positioned separately on one side and the other side of a region divided by the extension of the edge vector.</p>
