PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and inexpensive base isolation method intended for an existing building with a mat foundation.SOLUTION: In the base isolation method of the existing building 1 constructed on the mat foundation 12, a space 14 for a beam is formed by removing part of the mat foundation 12 in a reed shape, and a reinforcing bar 16 is arranged there. A hardening material 18 is additionally placed in the space 14 and on an upper surface of the mat foundation 12 to increase the thickness of the foundation 12 so that the flexural capacity against a vertical load may be improved. After that, a work space 24 is formed under the mat foundation 12 having the larger thickness. A temporary support member 30 is arranged on a ground 26 of the work space 24 to temporarily support the mat foundation 12, and a new foundation is formed. A base isolation device is arranged between the new foundation and the mat foundation 12, and the temporary support member 30 is removed. |
