Of the distance data that indicates the detected vehicle position, distance data with a variation over time that exceeds a predetermined threshold value when the travel trajectory of the vehicle (13) is straight ahead is identified, the vehicle position is corrected to a vehicle position indicated by distance data that excludes said distance data, the traveling state of the vehicle (13) is assessed from the change over time in the corrected vehicle position, and a notification of the details is provided according to the assessed traveling state.</p>
