<p>A hinge reinforcement for a motor vehicle door hinge for securing a hinge joint to a bearing surface (14, Figure 3). A base plate (16, Figure 1) can be slidably attached to the bearing surface (14) in a pre-assembly position by means of bracket 12. The base plate can accommodate a thermally activatable fixing means 34 preferably in cavity 32, with which the base plate (16) can be fixed to the bearing structure (14). The fixed reinforcement may be used to locate a door in the same position after removal from the vehicle. A method for assembling a vehicle door is disclosed where the base plate (16) is slidable secured by the bracket 12 to the bearing structure (14). A door hinge is attached so that at least one attachment means penetrates through the base plate (16) to act as a clamp and the base plate (16) is subject to thermal treatment.</p> |
