The device (1) has an H-shaped base body (2) comprising parallel side pieces connected by a flexible middle rod (12). Lower side pieces (4a, 4b) of the base body are designed for direct or indirect application of braking or clamping force to a guide rail. An upper side piece (10b) aligned on a side of the middle rod comprises a threaded hole (20), and a threaded spindle (16) is engaged into the threaded hole. The threaded spindle is supported in a recess (18) of the upper side piece in a rotatable manner. A lever (14) is provided for rotating the threaded spindle.
