A stereoscopic image display device includes a display panel 10; display alignment marks 12 disposed at a midpoint along two opposite edges of the display pane. A 3D filter 20 disposed in planar relation to the display panel; and filter alignment indicia portions 22 are disposed on the 3D filter. Alignment of these marks may be achieved by using a controller (52, figure 3) and X-Y table or movable platform (54, figure 3). The 3D filter may have first and second retarder patterns (20a, 20b, figure 10), which transmit right or left circularly polarized light. It may also have first and second dummy retarder patterns (20c, 20d, figure 10) which have a height or depth greater than the retarder patterns both which may have the same polarization characteristics. |
