The invention relates to a container for preparing an extract of a product, such as coffee. The container consists of a body in the shape of a truncated cone having a base and a top surface, which base is provided with a projecting edge and a closure body and which closure body is detachably mounted on said body, being provided with perforations and with a filter element made of a gauze. The closure body is further provided with an upright edge which in a closed position is slid into the body, whilst the upright edge is provided with an annular protrusion and the body is provided with an annular recess.
