PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element and a processed body which can improve periodicity in patterns by a simple method, without complicating a laser optical system and further to provide a method for producing the optical element and the processed body.SOLUTION: After a base structure 110 is formed on an original disk 100 surface (a surface to be processed 100A), the surface is irradiated with a femtosecond laser beam L, a polarization direction of which turns to a direction that perpendicularly intersects a set axis D2 (not shown), satisfying formula (1). As a result, a nanostructure 120 (not shown), which is constituted by including ruggedness of nanometer order extended with variation expressed by formula (2), is formed. where formulae (1): 0°≤θ≤30° and (2): 0°<Δθ<1.5°, where θdenotes an angle made by the set axis D2 and a projected part or a recessed part included in the base structure 110 and Δθdenotes half value width obtained when a part of the nanostructure 120 contained in a plane is extracted and angle variation in ruggedness that extends direction contained in that part is expressed by a Gauss function. |
