PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine, improving merchantability by ensuring a stable combustion state even if a combustion mode is changed over from an SI combustion mode to an HCCI combustion mode.SOLUTION: This control device for the engine 3 operable by changing over the combustion mode to the HCCI combustion mode and SI combustion mode includes an ECU 2. The ECU 2 controls exhaust valve timing to SI timing in the SI combustion mode and to the HCCI timing in the HCCI combustion mode (Steps 31-35), determines whether or not the exhaust valve timing is actually changed over to the HCCI timing after the combustion mode is changed over to the HCCI combustion mode (Step 36), and decreasingly corrects the first amount of fuel injected GFOUTP during a period until predetermined time elapses from a changeover point with the exhaust valve timing actually changed over to the HCCI timing (Steps 63, 64, 68). |
