PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device in which accuracy of detection of abnormal temperature rise of a heating member provided in the fixing device is improved, and to provide an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: The determining section 66 uses as references the temperature of a fixing belt 50 when the rotation of the fixing belt 50 is started for preparing conveyance of a recording medium P and the temperature of the fixing bet 50 when the fixing belt 50 is caused to start rotating. The determining section 66 detects an abnormal temperature rise of the fixing belt 50 based on whether the increased temperature of the fixing belt 50 detected by the detecting member 62 has reached a threshold temperature or not before the time measured by a measuring part 68 reaches a threshold time. Consequently, accuracy of detection of the abnormal temperature rise of the fixing belt 50 can be improved. |
