PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder and an image forming apparatus having the same, capable of smoothly performing sheet feeding operation by preventing scattering of sheets when inserted into a casing of a sheet cassette.SOLUTION: This sheet feeder 4 includes the casing 2, the sheet cassette 3 insertable into the casing 2 from the first direction A and having a downstream side wall part 32 positioned on the downstream side when viewed from the first direction A, a sheet feeding mechanism 40 for taking out and feeding a sheet S along the first direction A from the sheet cassette 3, and a sheet scattering preventive member 10 having a regulating surface 18 for returning the sheet S to the sheet cassette 3 by abutting on the sheet S trying to jump out of the sheet cassette 3 by going over the downstream side wall part 32 when the sheet cassette 3 is inserted into the casing 2. The sheet scattering preventive member 10 takes a first attitude where the regulating surface 18 projects to a higher position than the downstream side wall part 32 when the sheet cassette 3 is inserted into the casing 2, and takes a second attitude where the regulating surface 18 retreats from above the downstream side wall part 32 when the sheet feeding mechanism 40 feeds the sheet S. |
