POLYNUCLEOTIDES ENCODING NF-YB ORIGINATING IN JATROPHA AND UTILIZATION THEREOF

By analyzing jatropha genome, NF-YB-encoding genes represented by SEQ ID NOS:1-11, NY-YB-encoding gene fragments represented by SEQ ID NOS:12 and 13, and genes relating thereto were found. By transforming a jatropha plant using such an NF-YB-encoding gene or the like, an NF-YB polypeptide or the like can be overexpressed and thus the productivity in a protein synthesis, in which the NF-YB polypeptide participates, can be remarkably increased. As a result, it is possible to remarkably improve, for example, tolerance against drought stress. Thus, a drought stress-tolerant jatropha plant, which can show excellent growth even under water-limited conditions, can be constructed.
