The method involves performing range estimation of traveling distance of a vehicle based on a power consumption model of the vehicle, available amount of power and road database. The traveling distance is output in a form of accessibility of a destination of a driver of the vehicle. The range estimation is performed by a navigation system with the road database for exchanging information to a vehicle control unit based on present and defined destination when an explicit objective is not input to the navigation system. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program for managing range of a vehicle (2) a device for managing a range of a vehicle.
