The brake has a manually operable hand lever (13) pivotably mounted at a fastening plate (11), where braking positions of the lever determining adjusting positions are fixable by a gear (30) and a gear segment (34) in the respective braking positions. The gear is rotatably movably supported in a rotational direction and stands in engagement with the gear segment. The gear is brought outside the engagement with the segment to release the brake from the respective braking positions by a manually operated plunger rod (22) that is loaded by a spring (21) and movably supported along the lever.
