Animal fodder is made by pressing juice out of washed potatoes, boiling or steaming the residual solids and mixing the expressed juices with the cooked solids. Other vegetable juices, e.g. from clover, lucerne, maize leaves and vetches, albumin, vitamins A, B, C and D and minerals, e.g. salt, lime, and phosphates, may be added. The potatoes may be chopped before being pressed and over half their weight may be expressed as juice. During boiling or steaming, the solids are preferably kept out of contact with heated surfaces. |
